Can you wax a car with paint protection?

You can apply a carnauba wax over your Ceramic Coating. It can be applied every 3-4 months, and can help to keep the shine and lengthen the (already long) life of Ceramic Coating. The carnauba wax can add a glossy shine to your car, enhancing that ‘wet look’ we all love so much when it comes to our cars.  Although, if your car has had a premium paint protection or ceramic coating installed, it may not even need a layer of wax on top.  Sometimes applying a wax over a ceramic coating can cause hazing which can negatively affect the overall appearance of your vehicle.

How long can ceramic coating last

A Ceramic Coating is pretty much a semi-permanent solution. Normal waxing can fade in the space of mere weeks, while a quality ceramic coating can still be going years later. It’s an excellent solution when you don’t want to deal with the upkeep of waxing a car regularly. The question of course, by extension, becomes – is waxing even necessary? Not waxing your car can leave it open to the elements, causing damage that would be otherwise avoidable. It’s like an extra skin that your car wears to protect it from issues like oxidation, fading and even scratches.  Preparation, installation of the ceramic coating, and ongoing maintenance will heavily impact how long it will last on your vehicle.

How much does it cost to get your car ceramic coated?

The answer to this, of course, varies depending on who you get to do the job for you. It can range from affordable to bank-breaking through some companies, so it is best to do your research and ensure you’re getting a fantastic combination of a good price and superior quality.

While doing it yourself might seem tempting for the wallet, Ceramic Coating can be difficult to do right and can only be removed abrasively, so if it happens to go badly, the consequences can be extremely expensive. That’s why we always recommend using a professional when it comes to getting a Ceramic Coating for your car.

How do you take care of car paint?

Taking care of your car’s paint is not one of the things that most car users even think about. However, good quality paint can help to fetch you a hire sale price if you want to sell it, make you feel good while you drive it, and add a level of professionality for business people who use their cars as business vehicles.

There are countless ways to take care of your paint, so we’ll break down a few of them

  1. Clean off bird droppings and sap as soon as possible
    • Surprisingly, bird droppings and sap are actually extremely corrosive to your car’s paint. If you notice your car has been hit with some avian air assaults, make sure you wash them off straight away. This can help to prevent the paint below suffering from the chemical makeup of the droppings that eat away at it. It’s the same with sap, only sap can be even harder to get off, especially when it is really set. Make sure you properly wash any sap off of your paint immediately to avoid damage to your paint.
  2. Avoid automatic car washes
    • Automatic car washes can use really abrasive brushes to wash the vehicles and its worth remember that they are used over and over again, without cleaning in between each wash, so those brushes can be full of harmful dirt, small stones and other particulates from other washes, and these can cause swirls and scratches all over your car.
  3. Wash it Regularly
    • Making sure you wash your car regularly can help to remove any build-up of harmful contaminates that cause damage to your paint. Just remember to ensure that you use plenty of clean cloths and sponges for the process. The last thing you want is to cause more damage to your car than good.
  4. Use a Drying Towel, not a chamois
    • A Chamois will cause swirls and will eventually scratch your car. Use a microfiber drying towel to dry your car after you have washed it.  It’s much safer and more efficient!
  5. Regularly Detail Your Vehicle
    • Regularly detailing your car can help to keep the paint in good shape. Your car detailer will be able to notice any potential problem areas with your paint, and deal with them. Professional car detailers typically do a better job than we’re able to do at home, so you have the peace of mind in knowing that your car is being taken care of. Using the right cleaners, cloths and pads is an important part of taking care of your paint, and car detailers will know the right products for your particular needs.
  6. Park your car undercover
    • Your car will greatly benefit from being parked in the shade out of harm’s way. Those UV rays from the sun can lead to faded paint, which is unsightly to say the least. It will also protect your car from the harsh effects of the environment, such as the tree sap and bird droppings mentioned above!
